A message from Ms Martin,

To the Coláiste an Átha School Community,

To the students of Coláiste an Átha. We have come to the end of what has been an extraordinary school year. On behalf of all the staff I’d like to say what a fantastic group of young people you all are. You had to leave school, with little notice, on the 11th March and were then asked to cope with with the demands of virtual learning for the first time. You were asked to attend online classes, complete homework, assignments and projects, and had to complete Summer assessments during very uncertain times. Many of you had to battle with poor WiFi and extra responsibilities at home. Despite all these challenges, you did it!

I am sure that you have missed school, missed your friends and maybe even your teachers! You have had to play your part in this very different normal. You have followed the rules and stayed at home, missing out on sports, birthday celebrations and time with friends and loved ones. For that I say thank you.

I would also like to thank all parents, guardians and families for the support you have given teachers and students during this time. I know that it cannot have been easy. Juggling timetables and devices, doing your best to make sure that homework was completed and supporting exam students through anxious times. All the while trying to keep your own homes running and safe.

I would like to thank all staff of Coláiste an Átha. You have worked so hard in such very different circumstances, with care and compassion for every student. That you have done this from your homes, while looking after your own families, is truly amazing.

I know that this has been a particularly difficult time for 3rd and 6th year students and that you had to endure many uncertainties in the past weeks. Thankfully you now have clarity and know what has been decided for you.

I wish all our 6th years the very best of luck as they move forward from Coláiste an Átha and I want to remind them that we are all very proud of them. We are eager to see what new paths you choose as you move into adulthood.

I wish everyone a peaceful and relaxing Summer. I hope you and your families continue to stay safe and well and I look forward to welcoming our students back to Coláiste an Átha.

Take care of yourselves,

Elizabeth Martin

Principal
