On Wednesday the 27th of September our senior hurlers set out to play Bunclody Vocational School in torrential rain and windy conditions. The match was set to be started at 10 and with no sign of the rain easing down the players made their way out on to the field.
In the first ten minutes the teams were very even with both teams struggling with the conditions but it was Kilmuckridge who adjusted first with some fine scores from Martin Keane and Shane Cahill with Killian Doyle doing an untold amount of defending in the full back position.
Bunclody didn’t look as though they were to score any goals with most of their scores coming from frees. At half time it was Kilmuckridge with the advantage as the teams made their way out for the second half it was Kilmuckridge that were the better of the sides after the break with holes starting to be found in the Bunclody defense with some fine team play and good passing the gap began to widen and Bunclody were starting to look like a team that had given up. With scores now starting to come easier kilmuckridge began to get more confidence and Bunclody couldn’t get out of there own half. when the referee blew the full time whistle the score was 5-14 to 0-04 Kilmuckridge running out easy winners with goals coming from Liam Walsh Cormac Walsh Shane Cahill, Martin Keane and Declan Sinnott.
