My name is Amy Lawless, I am a transition year student in Coláiste an Átha. Last Tuesday we were lucky enough to be able to attend an afternoon full of make up tips and tricks with MUA Joanne Dunne.
The class started with Joanne talking about the importance of looking after your skin before anything else. She reminded us that no matter how good we are at applying make up, without looking after our skin its pointless. She recommend to cleanse, tone and moisturise the skin twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed. She also said exfoliating twice a week will work wonders for the skin! Joanne then went on to share some of her favourite skincare products, which I found very beneficial.
Joanne then went on to show us some of her favourite foundations, such as Kat Von D, Catrice and of course Inglot. She then explained that some foundations contain SPF which causes flashback in photos, this causes your face to look like a ghost in photos, a problem every girl knows! Joanne recommended using a foundation with SPF below 15, I found this information very useful.
Joanne then passed around some palettes of eye shadows, from brands such as morphe and blank canvas, and of course a palette full of glitters to die for! After a question about how to get the perfect brows, Joanne did a tutorial on Katie using morphe brow powder and a drop of duroline. Joanne then decided to show us how to apply glitter, which led to a festival look tutorial.
Overall I really enjoyed the experience and learned a lot of tips and tricks about skin care and make up. Thanks to Joanne Dunne for the amazing afternoon.
