On the 4th of October Coláiste an Átha took part in the county athletic games. We left the school at 9 A.M and set on our way for Enniscorthy.

The day proved historic for our school as we won the county athletic games for the first time ever. The county athletics took place in Enniscorthy Athletic Club and it’s safe to say we stole the show as we won both the Junior and overall cup on the day.

Events on the day were junior, intermediate and senior 100m, 200m, 500m and 1500m running. There was also relay , long jump, high jump and shot put.

The Junior Athletes dominated their events with outstanding performances from Cormac Hammil, Cormac Walsh and Dylan McEvoy bringing home medals in Junior Boys’ races. Chelsea King had a great day and brought home medals in her Junior Girls’ races.

Intermediate athletes put in great effort on the day and it paid off. Blanaid Fogarty put in some great performances and brought home 3 golds. Jason O’Toole got bronze in shot put too.

Our Senior Athletes also did great in their events with our Boy’s relay team led by Eoin Murphy, Jayden Hibbert Bown, Jack Quinn and Darryl Gray brought home Gold. Our girls relay team led by Rebecca O’Leary, Megan O’Brien, Ciara Doyle and Carragh Murphy performed well too.

Personally I enjoyed the day and it felt great being part of winning the county games for the first time.
