My name is Moya Fortune. I am a TY student in Coláiste an Átha and I am writing about a mental health play called ‘A Face in the Crowd’ which the TYs went to see.
On Friday the 17th of November the TY group departed the school heading for Enniscorthy at approx 2:15pm. We went to see a mental health play in the Presentation Centre in Enniscorthy town. We were accompanied by the Vocational school from Bunclody. We were greeted at the door by some lovely people who gave us a leaflet about mental health.
The play had a total of five people all with different stories to tell. They were all suffering with mental health issues and they weren’t afraid to tell us. The play helped me understand how people may be feeling when they have a mental illness to fight everyday. I don’t think people should be pushed out of society just because they have a mental illness. They all have something to give to the world.
I enjoyed the play and I enjoyed listening to the stories each person had to tell. At the end we wrote our own reflection on what we thought on the play,I found the play very deep and touching. We gave our reflections to the producers who are having a workshop in our school very soon so they can use them to help them know what to talk about then. We are excited for the workshops and it was a lovely way to end our week in school.
