So far, my Transition Year has been the best it could possibly be. We have been on a trip every week, all of different varieties and activities. I am excited to try out our new modules which I hope will help me chose a future career as currently I have no idea ! One of our main projects is our mini company. This is a lot more challenging than it seems as it takes a long time to get every to decide on one idea and then to get together to discuss the ideas. My group have finally decided on a company and hope it will go far.
Our teachers have been more than helpful making us settle in to the senior cycle and devolp as adults in society. Simple things such as entering for different activities through email and contact employers for our work experience gives us a very real idea of our modern society and how communication is key.
The main thing transition year has given me is time. Having this time has allowed me to devolp my own skills out of school, such as sport. It has really given me the time to focus on horse riding. I compete reguraly in MGA, this is a sector of equestrian that is not well known but is beginning to expand at a large rate. MGA usually takes me abroad to compete in competitions with different teams as well as representing Ireland and a individual and on a team. I have been to England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, all of which have been very recently, on nearly every weekend in September. I would not be able to do this if it wasn’t for the time and flexibility TY has given me this year.
I look forward to the upcoming trips and activities TY will give me the chance to take part in and hopefully I will have many good memories to look back on from TY.
