Book and Equipment Lists for 1st years for September 2023
Coláiste an Átha introduced a new book rental scheme for Junior Cycle and for Senior Cycle in September 2022. The scheme has been very successful and the vast majority of families opted into the scheme. This Rental Scheme is for books only. You are required to purchase the items from the Equipment List for your child’s subjects. Your child’s option subjects will be included in the envelope you receive later this week.
The rental fee is €200 for the three years of Junior Cycle and €200 for the two years of Senior Cycle, with a charge of €150 this September and €50 in September 2024.
If you wish to opt out of this scheme this means that you will purchase your child’s books yourself in September. A gentle reminder not to purchase the option subjects books until your child has definitely made their choices. If you write on a book the bookshop will not accept it if you need to return it.

Those opting into the scheme will be billed for the €150 in mid-August. Books will be ordered once payment has been received. Last date for payment will be 25th August 2023.
If you are experiencing any financial hardship please email me after the 19th of August and we can arrange to meet as we do want to be able to support if and when needed.
Participation in the scheme will save parents at least 50% of the cost of purchasing the books themselves. The school has made every effort to reduce the cost of the book rental scheme to an absolute minimum by utilising the book grant given to the school each year to support needy pupils, reusing books already in stock and purchasing in bulk.
